A conversation with Carta Branca’s team
International Women’s Day highlights the accomplishments of inspiring women all over the world. Today, we celebrate the three special women behind Carta Branca by asking them a few questions.
Carta Branca stands for pieces that are way ahead of their time, brought to life by the ingenious minds of our designers, Claudia Llagostera and Géraldine Simonnet, and our Head of Design, Chiara De Vlieger.
Each collection mixes the clean, minimalist taste of Claudia with the modern techniques of Géraldine, resulting in innovative, timeless and elegant pieces. Analysing fashion trends and our brides desires, Chiara works with Claudia and Géraldine to provide all brides their one-of-a-kind, full silk wedding dress.
Celebrate this day with us and get to know the Carta Branca women.
Who is your female icon?
Claudia: I love Caroline de Maigret, she is super feminine and natural with a unique personality. And Coco Chanel, who created a unique style where she mixed elegance and comfort.
How does being a woman influence the process of creating for Carta Branca?
Claudia: It’s great to design as a woman because you can put yourself in the bride's shoes. I often think about how I would want to feel wearing each dress. I always design dresses that make the bride feel unique, comfortable, beautiful, and secure.
Géraldine: Society is constantly evolving and we as women too. I can understand brides’ wishes and my designs reflect what they want to show, how they want to move and feel.
Who is your Carta Branca bride?
Géraldine: The Carta Branca bride is a stylish woman. She is the type of bride that always manages to look effortlessy chic, elevated, and sophisticated.
Chiara: For me, she’s a women who’s sensitive to timeless fashion. She makes her own choices in a conscious way and prefers quality over quantity. Her elegance is her best accessory.
As married women, what piece of advice can you give our brides-to-be?
Claudia: Be yourself. Choose the dress that flatters your silhouette and fits your own style. Pick the dress that just feels right. Also allow yourself to be advised by professionals, they will help you find your perfect dress.
Chiara: It’s cliché but ENJOY your day. Make sure to have a private moment during the day with your husband to let it all soak in, it’s a moment you’ll cherish when you look back for sure.
What would you tell your younger self?
Chiara: Keep enjoying life, keep smiling, keep having fun, and keep on being grateful! Make sure to never lose those feelings in life.
Claudia: I would tell her to believe in herself. That perseverance and work are the key to success.
Any special Woman’s day message for our brides?
Géraldine: Don’t forget that you can always say no. At the end of the day, you are the one responsible for your future, so don’t be afraid to do what’s best for you!
